PROPERTIES OF
PARTITION WALL
WHAT IS A PARAPET
WALL
• If a short-height (3ft-4ft) wall is built on the edge of
the roof, balcony and terrace of the house, it is known
as a parapet wall. It is also built on bridges and
sidewalks.

• Various materials such as brick masonry, steel, RCC

(reinforced cement concrete), aluminum, glass are
used for parapet wall construction. It gives our home
an attractive look.

• It helps to improve the appearance of the house and

also acts as a safety barrier for the occupants.

• A parapet wall is a low-security structural layer built

near the roof. this wall provides continuity and
support in terms of water, air, steam and thermal
control.

• Control of these factors can help prevent degradation

and corrosion of the roof or some other pre-built
adjacent structure.
PURPOSES OF
PARAPET WALL
The terrace of the house is used by the occupants
for sitting, relaxing, browsing and many other
recreational activities. Therefore, the safety of the
residents provided with the parapet should be
ensured. A parapet wall serves the following
purposes.
a) Giving an aesthetic look to the structure.
b) Provide protection to prevent vehicles from
falling off the bridge on bridges, even when
humans are on the rooftop.
c) Prevent dust from entering the air through the
roof.
d) To prevent concealment of equipment and
machinery on the roof.
e) To prevent debris collected on the roof from
falling.
f) Perforated walls will be useful for security
operations in military areas.
g) To prevent excessive wind loads from coming
on the roof
SAFETY
• A property is an attribute of a program that
is true for every possible execution of that
program.
• Properties of interest for concurrent
programs fall into two categories: safety and
liveness.
• A safety property asserts that nothing bad
happens during execution.
• A liveness property asserts that something
good eventually happens.
• Another way of putting this is that safety is
concerned with a program not reaching a
bad state and that liveness is concerned with
a program eventually reaching a good state.
• The standard minimum height of the parapet
wall should be 3feet-900mm.The parapet
wall should not be built less than 3 feet.
DURABILITY
• The wall should be durability by doing
painting and masonry works properly.
• The finishing works of wall should be
fine enough. So that, it will be long
lasting upto a long time.
SERVICEABILITY
• Serviceability of wall should be
maintain once in a year. So that, the wall
should not be damage or cracked.
AESTHETIC
• It should be built of their own choice.
• The parapet can be built as far their
different and shape; like circular, square,
rectangular, etc.
