Here you can find a selection of books
• And a number of extra resources

Books are represented by their front

cover
If next to it you see the ‘MyEnglishLab”
icon,, it means it’s a digital book
• OTHER RESOURCES FOR THE SAME
TEXT BOOK DON’T HAVE THAT ICON
• BE CAREFUL SOME BOOKS ONLY HAVE
THE DIGITAL OR THE NON DIGITAL
VERSION. Please check what is
available and familiarize with it
• SPEAK OUT has both
Digital book
 Scroll until you find the digital book you
need
 Click on the book picture to open it
 You need to enable flash player in order to
do so, don’t forget to do it, or it won’t
work.
 You are in MyEnglishLab, and looking at the
exercises your student can do online if he
has registered for a Blended course, if not,
only you’ll be able to see these exercises
 To open the actual book you need to press
the small icon where it says ETEXT (see red
square)
 It takes some time to open it the first time;
so please open it on your computer long
before the lesson, to make sure it is ready
when you need it
Navigating the digital book

This is what you see now

There are a few things you can do
On the right handside you see a list of
units
Double-Clicking on a unit will open the
menu for that unit
Double-clicking onthny item in the menu,
will open the book at the corresponding
pages
Control bar
1. The video projector icon opens WHITEBOARD VIEW; 1
 To open menu click on the double arrow in the control
menu to the left of the screen
 To go back to screen view, click on the picture of the
computer screen

2. the fourth icon from the right bookmarks pages

 To be used when planning your lessons, it will save your
bookmarks in the bookmark session of the menu and help
you navigate through the book while teaching

3. You can zoom in and out and also reduse or enlarge

the page at once using the 2 control keys on the
right of the zoom icons
4. The pin icon allows you to enter notes and pin them where
you need them.
 Double click on the icon, put your cursor where you want the
note, the note pad will open and you can add your text. You
can also add a direct link to the web, but unfortunately it does
not always work. So if you need a link, just copy and paste the
link in the note; YOU CAN HIDE OR SHOW NOTES AND YOU CAN
OPEN THE NOTES MANAGER THAT SHOWS YOU THE LIST, OR
USE THE NOTES SECTION AT THE BOTTOM OF THE MENU
 You can print or download notes
USING HIGHLIGHTS & searches

 You can show or hide highlights

 This is particularly useful
 when you want to select vocabulary on which you want your students to focus
 To show the right answer when there’s a choice
 To highlight a key work
 And in many other ways
 If you highlight the right answers and hide the highlight, you can show it when correcting to show
students the right answer

 You can search the book for a specific item (for instance a topic, a grammar
point); you will see where that is dealt with in the book
bookshelf

In the blue bar above the iTExt controls, you have the bookshelf. It is near
‘welcome + name) If you click it will show all the eTest available on your
account.
If you click on settings, it will show you the course information (at the moment
there’s no course attached to your account, so you can’t see anything)
DASHBOARD AND MATERIALS

Let’s go back to the dashboard, where all your books are listed.
Here you can find all the extra resources, whn clicking on the ‘non eTest’ version of the book,
and also materials like audio, videos, answer keys etc… for course books that don’t have an
eText

A very interesting section, I suggest you use a lot, is the PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. It is a
training session with lots of interesting ideas.
