CONTENT STANDARD

The learner demonstrates understanding of how


world literatures and other text types serve as
vehicles of expressing and resolving conflicts
among individuals or groups; also how to use
strategies in critical reading, listening, and
viewing, and affirmation and negation markers
to deliver impromptu and extemporaneous
speeches.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD

The learner proficiently delivers an


argumentative speech emphasizing
how to resolve conflicts among
individuals or groups.
PERFORMANCE TASK

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to dramatic loss of human


lives, businesses and jobs; during these challenging times,
people were physically separated from their support group due
to social isolation. Thus, good mental health is difficult to
maintain. To address this issue, your local health center,
together with the local government unit, will have a community
meeting which will present different proposals from community
leaders. Your goal, as a Barangay chairman, Health worker, or
Psychologist, is to convince the committee to support your
proposal (essay or speech) in resolving the presented issue.
Your argumentative speech will be assessed based on the
following criteria: relevance, depth of argument, coherence,
and delivery.
 
SITUATION: The COVID-19 pandemic has led to dramatic loss of human lives, businesses

GOAL: Your goal is to convince the committee to support your proposal in resolving the
presented issue.  
 
INTEGRATED PRODUCT: Argumentative speech which will highlight mental health
concerns caused by economic issues, and will emphasize the resolutions to such
concerns
 
AUDIENCE: The committee
STANDARDS: Your speech will be assessed based on the following criteria: relevance,
depth of argument, coherence, and delivery.
