 Reflex Action
-Outline the functions of sensory nearones, relay
neurones and motor neurones.
-Discuss the function of the brain and spinal cord in
producing a coordinated response as a result of a
specific stimulus (reflex action).
• Reflex action is an immediate response to a
specific stimulus without conscious control.
• Involuntary action.
• Pathway:
Receptor > Sensory neurone > synapse > Relay
neurone > synapse > Motor neurone > Effector

– Activities that are controlled consciously.

– Activities that are not controlled consciously.
