• Def: A set of literary techniques that enhances writing by adding new
meaning and context beyond the literal facts.

• When you use a word or phrase that doesn’t have its normal
everyday, literal meaning

• METAPHOR: so, this is an indirect comparison of two things without using Like or

• PERSONIFICATION: It is about giving human characteristic to a nonliving thing

• HYPERBOLE: An exaggerated claim that emphasizes on a point

• ALLUSION: With reference to literature/culture/movies.

• IDIOMS: These are figure of speech that have become common expression
• ALLITERATION: When 2 or more words in a row have same
beginning sounds.

• ONOMATOPOEIA: Words whose sounds suggests its meaning.

• IMAGERY: It’s the use of language to create sensory impression for


reader

• IRONY : When the opposite of one what expects is stated or occurs
