POLYMERS IN ASPHALT
 WHAT IS REXTER DP
REXTER DP Dispersant is a product used to optimize the dispersion of the
polymer in the Asphalt, achieving the objective in less time and obtaining
great energy savings. The Dispersant REXTER DP, since it is solid at
room temperature, can be add directly to the asphalt before adding the
polymer.

• Surfactant
• Wetting Agent
• Rheological material
 MECHANISM OF ACTION
REXTER DP is a dispersing agent, dispersing is a process by which (in the case of a solid
dispersing in a liquid) agglomerated particles separate from each other and a new interface
is generated between the internal surface of the liquid dispersion medium and the surface
of the particles scattered. This process is facilitated by molecular diffusion and convection.

REXTER DP DOSAGE : Between 0.3 – 0.6% is recommended with

respect total asphalt. This dose can always vary subject to the
results of the laboratory for each specific case.
 APPLICATION
REXTER DP REDUCE THE DISPERSION TIME OF THE POLYMER INTO THE ASPHALT , WE
RECOMMENDED TO ADD REXTER DP DISPERSING AGENT AFTER OF THE ADDITION OF ASPHALT
WHEN PREPARING THE MIXTURE , ONCE HOMOGENIZED WICH WILL BE AFTER 1 MINUTE THE
POLYMER WILL BE ADDED
 OURS RESULTS
Our Laboratory tests have shown that an appropriate dispersion of 3% TPO or SBS in
Asphalt (60-80 dmm penetration) with a dose of 0.42% of REXTER DP Dispersant,
and maintaining at 180ºC with 350 rpm is carried out in a time of 10 hours while
without REXTER DP Dispersant, up to 20 dispersion hours. If we increase the speed
750 rpm the dispersion will take place in 5 hours
