Social change- transformation of
culture and social institutions
over time.

Diffusion -is a social process
through which elements of culture
spread from one society or social
group to another, which means it is,
in essence, a process of social
change.
Political Change- normal function
of internal and external politics.
Rulers will be voted out, retire or

while in power, and the new
leader will make changes.
Cultural Change- modification
of a society through innovation,
invention, discovery, or contact
with other cultures.
 Innovation
Innovation -The improvement or redesign of something
that already exists, typically referring to a good, service,
or process.
 include technological inventions such as wind turbines,
photovoltaic cells, concentrated solar power, geothermal
energy, ocean wave power and many other
emerging innovations.
 working conditions, education, community
development or health. These ideas are created with the
goal of extending and strengthening civil society.
The main difference between social and cultural change
is that social change involves a transformation in social
values, norms, and behaviour patterns, whereas
cultural change involves a transformation in the way of
life, habit patterns, and lifestyle.

Social and cultural change are two related concepts


that refer to alterations in society and culture,
respectively. Some sociologists have argued that both
these concepts are the same, but for some, these are
two different concepts.
Key Differences between Social Change and Cultural
Change
 Cultural change is a very broad and dynamic change.
Social change is only a part of cultural change.
 Cultural change includes change in ideology,
administration and social change refers to changes in
social relationship among people.
 Social change is all about improvements made to uplift
certain life style.
 Cultural change gives new direction to social change.
 Cultural change could be material or non-material.
