CONFLICT
•is the primary problem that the
characters in a story face. It is the
driving force in any story, as it
influences the turn of events in the
plot.
Internal conflict occurs when the
main character struggles with
issues and ideas with his inner
self such as his own fears,
shortcomings, or battles within
his own mind.
Types of
External conflict occurs when the

main character struggles with other
characters or outside forces such as
the society, nature, weather, or the
gods.
PLOT
is the sequence of events that make
up a story
The plot is the story, and more
specifically, how the story develops,
unfolds, and moves in time

Exposition
•is the beginning of the story
when the characters, setting, and
the main conflict are typically
introduced
Rising Action
•occurs when the main problem or
conflict is addressed with a form of
action. It is the part when the main
character faces the problem and tries
to solve it.
Climax
• is the pivotal point in the story when the
protagonist deals with the effects of his/her
choices or actions. It often centers on the
protagonist's most difficult challenge or
bleakest moment, the highest point of
interest or suspense.
Falling Action

•is the part when the protagonist


gradually solves the problem or
conflict and ties up loose ends
Resolution

•tells us what happens to the


characters after the conflict is
resolved and gives the ending to
the story

Theme
• is the central meaning of a narrative. It tells the
reader what the work is about. The theme is
expressed through what the characters say, do
and think and through the actions that take place
within the story.

Example: love, war, fate, revenge, patriotism
