A noun is a word that functions as the
name of something (a person, a place
or a thing). Nouns are the most
common class of word in English.
There are different kinds of nouns.

Gerunds
Running is good for you.

Here “running” looks like a verb because of its -ing ending but it is a noun
(gerund) because we are talking about the concept of running, we are talking
about a thing. Examples of gerunds: reading, writing, dancing, thinking,
flying.

Examples: Watching a movie is fun!


Dancing is great.
His paintings are awesome.

SINGULAR AND
PLURAL NOUNS

Nouns usually form their plural form by adding -
s to the singular.

Examples:
Desk – desks
Chair – chairs
Window – windows
Table – tables
Door – doors

Some other nouns add –es to their singular form. (Nouns
ending in -x, -s, -sh and -ch).

Examples:
Fax – faxes
Class - classes
Brush – brushes
Watch – watches

Anyway, there are some special rules for other nouns:
(a) Nouns that end in -y preceded by a vowel, add –s in the plural form;
but nouns that end in -y preceded by a consonant, change -y to -i and
add -es.
Examples:
Boy – boys
Toy – toys
Baby – babies
City – cities

(b) Nouns that end in -f or -fe change -f or -fe to -ve and add -s.

Examples:
Knife – knives
Wife – wives
Leaf - leaves

(c) Nouns that end in -o form the plural form by adding -s  or  -es  according
to usage. 

Examples:
Piano – pianos
Video – videos
Hero – heroes
Tornado – tornadoes
Echo – echoes
Tomato - tomatoes

(d) Other nouns are considered irregular since they do not add -s or –es.
They change the main vowel or some part of the word or they do not
change at all.
Examples:
Tooth – teeth
Foot – feet
Man – men
Woman – women
Mouse – mice
Child – children
Person – people
Fish – fish
Deer – deer
Sheep – sheep

 A basic noun phrase is a phrase which includes:

 a noun (also called headword)…


 and modifiers.
 A noun phrase does not contain a verb.

 A noun phrase contains noun modifiers. They modify the meaning of the
noun (headword) that comes at the end of the phrase.

 Some of the modifiers can go before a noun (Pre-modifiers):


The mountain (Article)
Two new cars. (Adjectives)
Some food. (Quantifier)
An interesting movie. (-ing participle)
A retired teacher. (-ed participle)
A far-away house. (Adverb)
A children book. (Noun)

The order of a noun phrase in Spanish is as follows:

Identify the noun phrases and translate them.
1) The new evaluation system is on the files.
2) I have a Mechanical Engineering degree.
3) They are downloaded files from the Internet.
4) She has a nice red t-shirt.
5) They read a science fiction novel.
6) Big houses are very expensive.
7) I study at the National Technological University.
8) The black laptop on the table is big.
9) That is a beautiful large garden.
10) He is a Chemical Engineer and I am an Electronic Engineering student.
11) UTN has an excellent university education.

ADJECTIVES

An adjective is a word that tells us more about a noun. (By "noun" we
include pronouns and noun phrases.)

An adjective "qualifies" or "modifies" a noun: 


A new student.
An interesting book.

An adjective can be used before a noun:


I like Chinese food.
…or after certain verbs:
It is hard.

Adjectives do not have plural forms or gender:

An expensive car. An expensive house.


Expensive cars. Expensive houses.

We can often use two or more adjectives together.

A beautiful modern French painting.
