by SONELGAZ (SPE).
GE, subcontracted by SONELGAZ, to supervise the
inspection work Type C3.
For your information:
At the end of this presentation, all participants have to
register and confirm the participation of this induction,
as well to agree to follow the safety rules.
PLAN OF THE POWER STATION
ZERO Injury Objective

How shall we ensure success?

We should have better understanding of why
injuries happen, and how they can be prevented.
ZERO Injury Objective
Accidents and serious injuries don’t just happen, THEY ARE CAUSED!

• They are the resultant of build ups of deviations / disregard of rules,

unsafe acts / conditions, unreported minor incidents / near misses, …
How shall we ensure success?
• Supervision and Communication

• Attend to minor issues, FOCUS on the root cause

• Challenge and STOP every unsafe act / poor practice

• Report / investigate near-misses, minor injuries

Our Working Philosophy

The work is never too urgent or important that we

cannot take time to perform it safely.

“ It is the responsibility of everyone to do

his utmost to prevent injuries, so that ALL
can go back to their loved ones in the same
condition they arrived”
Our Working Principles

 Safety is a VALUE, not a

priority
 Safety is a culture NOT a • Work accidents are
program preventable
 Safety is line management
responsibility • Safety is about YOU and ME..
 Safety is a condition of the everyone should look after
job, NOT an option each other
 Employees must be trained to
work safely
 Safety is a total ownership of
responsibility

FIRST AID & MEDICAL EVACUATION
PROCEDURE
• In case of any emergency dial the
Control Room emergency Extension
202 or 248 or 250
• Inform the EHS supervisor on site using
225 or 228 and GE EHS supervisor
• The control room will contact the
rescuer (using of the automatic call
line)
FIRST AID & MEDICAL EVACUATION

assistance arrives to direct them to incident site.

injured, wait for paramedic (unless the situation requires taking the injured
from further danger)
Incident / Nearmiss Reporting &
Investigation

Reporting of Incident / Near-miss

Report all incidents and near-misses to the
Supervisor or EHS Representative
immediately.
Do not disturb the site of an incident or any
evidence.
If its safe to do so and necessary, remove

for help.
Warn other personnel to stay clear if further
danger exists.

Investigation

Reporting of Incident / Near-miss

 All accidents & incidents shall be reported
immediately to the EHS supervisor.

ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES

Our Role

 Reduce waste as possible

 Clean your work area and collect all your waste for disposal
after working
PTW SYSTEM & RISK ASSESSMENT /
WORK INSTRUCTION
All jobs carried out at site are controlled by a written Permit To
Work (non-process area), Work Instruction and Risk
Assessments / Job Safety Analysis.
PTWs, Work Instruction and Risk Assessments prescribe the
work to be done and precautions to be taken.
Remember:

PTW issuance DOES NOT make the job safe. It is the ACTION of complying with
the PTW requirements and safe manner of carrying out the job of the whole crew
that makes the job safe

Daily Toolbox Talk

The Worksite Supervisor shall discuss the precautions
defined in the PTW, Method Statement and Job Safety
Analysis in his daily Toolbox Talk before starting the activity.
PTW System & Risk Assessment
GOLDEN RULES OF SAFETY
PERMIT TO WORK
Before conducting work that involves confined space entry, working at height , non-
routine lifting operation or hot work in potentially explosive environments, a permit
must be obtained that:
 defines scope of work
 identifies hazards and assesses risk
 establishes control measures to eliminate or mitigate hazards
 links the work to other associated work permits or simultaneous operations
 is authorized by the responsible person(s)
 communicates above information to all involved in the work
 ensures adequate control over the return to normal operations
Proper inspection and protection is the KEY to
preventing electric shock injuries

 Ground Fault
Circuit Interrupter
Observe proper Lockout / Tagout when
performing maintenance, repair or
work on a de-energized equipment, to
prevent “serious injury from accidental
start up”.

• Training.
 All electrical personnel and Supervisors will undergo a specific
training on “Energy Control / Lockout-Tagout”.

Ventilation
 Consider best – exhaust, supply or both
 Provide work zone exhaust (LEV) if welding
 Plan ventilation supply and exhaust paths
 Ensure no “re-circulation” of air supply
 Use continuous ventilation
 Retest the confined space before and during entry
 Safe Execution - Ensure safe rigging / lifting practices at all times i.e. safe
wind speed, proper control of load, area clear of personnel, safe slinging, etc.

• Color Coding – Each lifting equipment shall be color coded prior to use
on project and after each (satisfactory) monthly inspection by competent
person
• Training
 All riggers and rigging supervisors will undergo specific Rigging/Lifting
Safety Awareness Training with HSE Dept. prior to being allowed to work
on site.

It is the responsibility of everyone to keep his area
orderly, tidy and safe throughout the activity.

WITH GOOD HOUSEKEEPING:

· Fires & injuries are prevented
· Access & mobility are improved

· Quality & productivity are improved

• As minimum, daily housekeeping must be observed by everyone
