1. Realism
• It is the attempt to portray the subject as
is. The artist selects, changes, and
arranges details to express the idea he
wants to make clear.

• An art or a work is realistic when the


presentation and organization of details
in the work seem so natural.

• Founded in Paris in 1924 by French poet

• It tries to reveal a new and higher
reality than that of daily life. They
claim to create a magical world more
beautiful than the real one through art.
• It came from the slang of super
realism.

8. Expressionism
-Introduced in German during the first
decade of 20th century and influences felt
by the European artists from 1910 up to the
present.

-They believed in the necessity of a


spiritual rebirth for the human being in an
age that was fast becoming influenced by
materialism.
