WHAT IS COAL?
Coal is a combustible black or brownish-black sedimentary rock,
formed as rock strata called coal seams. Coal is mostly carbon
with variable amounts of other elements; chiefly hydrogen,
sulfur, oxygen, and nitrogen.
USES OF COAL
Electricity Generation. Power generation is the primary use for coal
worldwide.
Metal Production. Metallurgical (coking) coal is a key ingredient in
steelmaking.
Cement Production. Coal is used as a key energy source in
cement production.
Gasification and Liquefaction.
Chemical Production.
Other Industries.
WHAT IS OIL?
An oil is any nonpolar chemical
substance ,crude oil,
liquid petroleum that is found
accumulated in various porous rock
formations in Earth’s crust and is
extracted for burning as fuel or for
processing into chemical products.
USES OF OIL
We use petroleum products to propel vehicles, to heat
buildings, and to produce electricity. In the industrial sector,
the petrochemical industry uses petroleum as a raw material to
make products such as plastics, polyurethane, solvents, and
hundreds of other intermediate and end-user goods.
WHAT IS GAS?
•Gas is one of the four fundamental states of matter. A pure
gas may be made up of individual atoms, elemental molecules
made from one type of atom, or compound molecules made from
a variety of atoms. A gas mixture, such as air, contains a
variety of pure gases.
USES OF GAS
Heating and cooling. In the commercial and residential sectors,
gas is mainly used for space heating and cooling, water heating,
and cooking.
Transport.
