CQI Optimization Feature Report

Feature Description

• ENodeB provides a function to improve CQI value in LR18 version. In the CSI reference resource, the UE shall
assume the following for the purpose of deriving the CQI index:
• If CRS is used for channel measurements, the ratio of PDSCH EPRE to cell-specific RS EPRE is :
• A  PA   offset  10 log10 (2)
[dB] for any modulation scheme, if the UE is configured with transmission mode 2 with 4 cell-
specific antenna ports, or transmission mode 3 with 4 cell-specific antenna ports and the associated RI is equal to
one;
A  PA   offset

•  offset
[dB] for any modulation scheme and any number of layers, otherwise.
• The is configured by higher-layer signalling of eNB, which can increase th eCQI value.

Because terminals in the network may measure CQI in a low or high way, that is to say, they underestimate or
overestimate the radio environment, the higher level can be adjusted by an Offset. As long as the adjusted value can
obtain better scheduling, and the Bler does not deteriorate obviously, it indicates that the adjusted CQI can feed back
the radio environment at the time better.

Trial Result: DL User Throughput (Mbps)

Conclusion:

The reported CQI from UE in current network is very accurate. There is no CQI

underestimate issue. And the system make a reasonable scheduling based on
the reported CQI.
Thar is why this function can improve the CQI value. but the user throughput is

So This feature is not suitable for the current network.
