[04]
WHAT IS LI-FI?
  LIFI –”LIGHT FIDELITY” is transmission
of data through illumination, i.e. sending
data through a LED light bulb that varies
in intensity faster than human eye can
follow.

 Li-Fi is a light based Wi-Fi it uses light

instead of radio waves to transmit
information.

[05]
HISTORY :
 The technology truly began during the year
1990’s in countries like Germany , Korea and
Japan where they discovered LED’s could be
retrofitted to send information . Prof. Harald
Hass from university of Edinburgh. continues
to wow the world with the potential to use
light for communication.

 He demonstrated in year 2012.

[06]
 INTRINSICALLY SAFE
ENVIRONMENT

 Visible light is more safe than RF,hence it can be used

in places where
RF can’t be used such as petrochemical plants.

[07]
AIRLINES
 Whenever we travel through airways we face problems is communication
media,Because the whole airways communication are performed on the
basis of radio waves. To overcome this drawback of radiowaves ,LI-FI
introduced.

[08]
ON OCEAN BEDS:
 LI-FI can even work underwater where wi-fi fails
Completely ,thereby throwing open endless
Opportunities for military/navigation operations.

[09]
HOW LI-FI WORKS -
 Operational procedure is very simple, if the LED
is on, you transmit a digit 1, if its off you
transmit a digit 0.

 The LED’s can be switched on and off quickly,

which gives nice opportunities for transmitting
data. hence all that us required is some LEDS and
a controller that code data into those LEDs.

 We have to just vary the rate at which the LEDs

flicker depending upon the data we want to
encode. Thus every light source will work as a
hub for data transmission.
[10]
[11]
ADVANTAGES -
 No license needed.

 LI-FI could make a huge impact on the internet on things too, with

data transferred at much higher levels with even more devices able
to connect to one another.

 Due to its shorter range,LI-FI is more secure than WI-FI.

 Since it does not pollute,it can be called a green technology for

device-to-device communication in the internet of things(IOT).

 LI-FI systems consume less power.

 More availability.

 Thousands and millions of street lamps can be converted to Li-Fi

spots.
[12]
FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS –

 Efficient alternative to radio-based wireless.

 Li-Fi is an emerging technology which is quick

and reliable.

 Air waves are clogged so let’s use light waves.

[13]
CONCLUSION –

 The possibilities are numerous and can be explored further.

 If this technology can be put into practical use, every bulb can
be used something like a Wi-Fi hotspot to transmit wireless
data.

 we will proceed toward the cleaner, greener, safer and brighter

future.
