What is a Robot?

What comes to our mind when we hear the word robot?

• A robot is a type of automated machine that can

execute specific tasks with little or no human
intervention and with speed and precision.
• “It has the ability to change something in the world
around you”
Why we need Robots?

• Robotics, design, construction, and use of machines (robots) to perform tasks done traditionally by human beings.
• Robots are widely used in automobile manufacture to perform simple repetitive tasks, and in industries where work must be
performed in environments hazardous to humans.
• Robots are used in many industries Health Care, Military, Food preparation are some of them.

•why do think we need robotics robots makes our tasks easy.

•They can do repetitive tasks without getting board. They don't need rest.and they never get sick at the best part they never complain .
•Robots are electromechanical systems designed typically to help people with tedious repetitive and sometimes dangerous tasks.
Robots are comprised of actuators being motors or servos and sensers being user inputs or electronic sensors. robots are all around us.
From dishwasher in our kitchen to the robot vacuum cleaners cleaning our floors .we even have robots on mars. Robots are essential to
manufacturing with the use of automated welders to build our cars to cnc machinery to build our circuits boards while robots may be
useful there sometime difficult and build there's motors, there's sensors, there's computers and interfacing all these together is quite a
challenge crossing many disciplines
Types of
Robots
1) Pre-Programmed
Robots.
2) Humanoid Robots.
3) Autonomous Robots
4) Teleoperated Robots
5) Augmenting Robots.
Advancements in Humanoid Robots
01.T-HR3
• T-HR3 is a Humanoid Robot capable of mimics the flexible movements of its remote
human operator.
• T-HR3 initially introduced by Toyota in 2017.
02.Kime

• Kime is a food and beverage serving robot.

• Made by Seville, Spain-based Macco Robotics.
• It has a human-like head and torso with two arms inside a kiosk.
03.Robonaut-2

• NASA’s Johnson Space Center has worked on several humanoids, including Robonaut 2.
• It is possible that future spacefaring humanoids will be designed to withstand harsh
environments of the Moon or the Mars.
04.Surena-IV

• Surena is an adult size humanoid Robot.

• It is reportedly capable of face and object detection, speech recognition and generation
• Also can walk with a speed of 0.7 kilometers per hour.
05.Pepper

• Pepper is a semi-humanoid robot manufactured by SoftBank Robotics.

• It can recognize faces and basic human emotions.
• Pepper is also able to interact with his touch screen.
