▪ A map is a view of an area from above.
▪ We use maps to find out where places are and how far it is.

 Maps are drawn using map scale.
▪ Map scale shows what small distances stand for a
larger real distance.

• Map key is a list of symbols on a map and what they
mean.
• There are no rules for what colors are used on maps.
• Map makers usually use blue for water, green for forest.
