What is information Revolution?

Information revolution describes current economic, social and technological trends beyond the
Industrial Revolution. The information revolution led us to the age of the internet, where optical
communication networks play a key role in delivering massive amounts of data.

It began around the 1970s and is still going on today. It is also known as the Computer Age,
Digital Age, or New Media Age. This era brought about a time period in which people could
access information and knowledge easily.
Influences of the past on the Information Revolution

The Renaissance
- It created the basic ideas that was used to develop modern inventions.

The Scientific Revolution


- Introduced important scientists such as Galileo, Copernicus, and Sir Isaac Newton.

The Industrial Revolution


- Brought about major changes in agriculture, manufacturing, mining, transportation, and
technology.
The Pre-Gutenberg World

- Books were written and produced by hand. They were made in surfaces of Clay, Wax,
Papyrus and Parchment.

- The hand-produced books and other reading materials were restricted only to those
people who can afford to buy these materials , the ones called elite group of people.
Johannes Gutenberg

German inventor Johannes Gutenberg developed a method of


movable type and used it to create one of the Western world's
first major printed books, the “Forty-Two-Line” Bible.

Johannes Gutenberg started experimenting with printing by


1438.

In 1450, Gutenberg obtained backing from the financier,


Johann Fust, whose impatience and other factors led to
Gutenberg's loss of his establishment to Fust several years later.

Movable type printing press meant that


books could be produced in greater
numbers and more quickly and cheaply
than ever before.

Nowadays it is easier to spread because people can use it because tasks will be easier
and faster if they are used. That we still use and they improve because it is a quick
help and process for people who are studying and working. The internet and the Web
have become effective answers in the slow process because the internet and the web
are easy to find information.

World
The Information Revolution has impacted the workforce in several ways, First it has created a
situation in which workers who performs tasks which are easily automated are being forced to find
work which involves tasks that are not easily automated. This era brought about a time period in
which people could access information and knowledge easily.

We are living in the Information Age, A world where the internet, computers and smartphones are an
essential part of our everyday lives, allowing us to immediately access and share information
worldwide, Digital technologies have changed every aspects of our lives, form the way we work and
learn to the way we play and socialize.

This evolution of technology in daily life, as well as of educational life style, the Information Age has
allowed rapid Global communications and networking to shape modern society, The internet has
changed the world.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Information Revolution
ADVANTAGES:
• Technology can help treat more sick people and consequently save many lives and combat very
harmful and bacteria.
• Invention of the Computer was a very important point, Communication is thus enhanced and
companies can communicate more easily with foreign countries. Research is also simplified.
• Technology has also increased the productivity of almost every industry in the world.
