THE PREMISE

Playing with toys which have nature and culture embedded into them was never this easy. Fun comes when
we bundle up our energies and imagination, to enjoy and share such toys with our friends and family.

Overview of Idea Schema Select

1 Physical
The sweetness and simplicity of tiny little hands holding things and making their
2
grip strong is a wonderful joy to witness. The idea enthralled us and we thought TYCH-24-
of building upon this idea with equal simplicity of concept- playing with a bunch
of sticks. Enabling the little minds to construct small structures to facilitate their Developing sequential
thinking for enhancing
learning and growing experience. We were also inclined towards devising a toy
mathematical
which was not only ecofriendly but had its share of own history and sure becomes knowledge and
engaging and involving, something as primitive and natural as the game of language skills

running, where the design is the same only its features changes when each time
we try to be imaginative. Our product- Stickaathi encapsulates the essence of all
the above

Your Approach towards Idea Development
Reproaching life was the standard norm during the corona flux. With ample leisure at hand Mehek, Navya and Shashwat developed a
primitive model of recreation that was always existing but got lost in the middle of all the 21 st century gaming survival ideas- The
addictive magnetism proposed by new age gaming Pundits. The three of them bored out of their wits, picked up a handful of sticks at
home, some were a part of the ritualistic dulha rituals, part were the Chinese chopsticks which their father had brought from his travel
to china, Mumma’s jooda sticks, and of course their pencils. They started fixing their gaming yearning with a bunch of, what we now
know as bundle of sticks, they tried to make a house out of it, some old and reduced to a chalk-pencils as the windows and ofcourse
the hatched roof entered and there were grandmother Savita’s knitting needles to build a time-racer.

They had a long debate over the stylizing of this hut, as it started to look more and more like the hut the Chinese folklore of an old
woman had, who lived under a thatched roof. Now Navya and Shashwat were competing. Nudged by this wow proposition, Mehek,
who made a score board out of the competing entries for stick games, crossed every four ideas with the fifth one, recording their score
for every innovative design they created with those bundle of sticks. While Shashwat, who quickly made an inverted branch tree, a
simple triangle and a sticky sun with a hollow circle in the middle won.

And here’s how we worked on our idea of scheming a toy instrument which when used with even a little bit of inquisitiveness could
single handedly satisfy the modern day Gaming Urges for the children keeping in mind the parameters of knowledge augmentation,
development of children motor skills, non-electronic essence and finally enabling of interaction between children and parents.

1 How Your Toy is Different From Existing Toys

Just like taking note of a variety of mesmerizing shapes that the clouds form and intrigue us with, our Stickaathi can be imagined and
used in a variety of ways. A number of forms can be given to it. Therefore, it keeps pushing the inner recesses of mind to use creativity
as a sharpening tool and enables the child in concocting surprising forms – a simple hut, a geometric figure like a rectangle square, a
time turner, two people talking etc

In the era of rapid independent learning, we seek knowledge enhancement in everything we buy from pin to plane. Today the knowledge
acquisition in games/ toys is through visual engagement, where more emphasis is given upon concentration and engagement through
seclusion and isolation, our toy builds an interface to enable learning through touch, feel and involve factors. Furthermore, where the
modern day visual games require non breaking of eye to screen contact, this one become easy on the eyes as it surfaces logical ushering
which approves of blinking of eyes while scheming designs. The rattling of our toy alone makes your senses aware of your child’s
presence as opposed to the muted online games which dissolve their presence even when sitting next to you.

Stickaathi also streamlines the divide that has auto generated itself with the advent of Barbie dolls, video and phone games, which
alienates children from parents. The ‘sense of involve’, in today’s games and toys, is accompanied by seclusion and isolation. Stickaathi
builds an opportunity between these two sets to be in an interactive and human touch/ human warmth mode so that the substitution of
the parent’s company could not be taken over by electronic gadgets and gaming options.

1 How Your Toy is Different From Existing Toys

The simplicity of the product is in its ten each, pencil like, long and short wooden sticks which are lacquered with a
smooth wooden polish, for tiny hands. We chose the wooden lacquer to instill the connection with nature by simply
holding the sticks in your palm. Making the sticks the fastest way to be close to nature whenever overpowered by the
cosmetic progression of the world technology and advancement. Much like the century’s old, traditional kaath toys the
sticks are completely non-toxic and bio-degradable making them ecofriendly. The sticks become a kit of imagination
when pushed towards building basic things and concepts for recognition or just story boarding. Stickaathi magnifies the
motor of imagination while eliminating any form of convoluted rules and patterns. Therefore it cuts across all age
groups and minds. The toy in its first view highlights the enormity of nature captured in a cotton-potli and defines the
sweetness and simplicity formed rightly for the kids of age group 2-8 years.

With this concept in mind, this toy is designed to augment the present day academic requirements of small kids. Our
commercializing rationale would be to induce this toy for brain storming the educational orientation of pre-nursery kids
in learning and developing concepts such as motor skills, sequencing, strategizing the placing, building stories etc.
Preschools can make this toy a part of their curriculum and emphasize through it upon the polishing and nourishing of
children’s imagination. The premise of these sticks encapsulate being imaginative and creative thus will nullify boredom
and boost mental aptitude. The famous stick figures used in storyboarding can be well taught to kids by forming a basic
moral and fun story. A number of shapes, figures and even counting too can be taught with Stickaathi.

2 Does Your Toy Reflect Indian Culture, Ethos, Ayurveda, Diversity or Psychology
Tell us in detail how your toy cover the theme you’ve selected. Ne more specific towards crux or conclusion

Since the dawn of time, as in the case of cavemen, stories were being depicted through stick figures like we
can see on the Rock Paintings found in Central India. Archaeological records of storytelling about their lives
and times, especially as humans are depicted as stick figures around the Mesolithic and Chalcolithic age, is
being studied aggressively for historical and cultural purposes and form an important part of our cultural
ethos and reflect our diversity. Building on the same lines, story boarding with stick figures as their chief
characters, a simple round head above any figure can be easily placed into a story as to depict walking,
sleeping, hunting, jumping etc for children to understand people and their physical operations with much
simplicity.

The fact that the sticks are made up of wood, we realize that Stickaathi connects us with nature with its right
kind of design and product material. Its non-plastic body, bio degradable life span, smooth texture and
lacquered with naturally colored-outlook deem it as a product of nature which also makes us look back into
the Indian cultural tradition of Kaath k khilaune, also known as wooden toys. The Varanasi valley has been
participative in this centuries old tradition of manufacturing toys made up of wood. The Varanasi craftsmen
started building kaath k khilaune based on everything under the sun in the reign of Mughal Emperors away
from the world of plastics and electronics.
