 Употребляется для выражения
дей ствий , длящихся в прошлом.

 The Past Continuous is used with the
following adverbials of time
0 At 5 o’clock yesterday (вчера в 5 часов);
0 I was reading a book at 5 o’clock yesterday.
0 I was cleaning up my flat at 5 p.m till 11 p.m.

0 You were watching a movie at 3 o’clock yesterday

0 Past
0 I read a book yesterday.

0 From 5 to/till 6 yesterday (вчера с 5 до 6);

0 I was sleeping from 5 p.m. till 6 p.m yesterday
0 For 3 days last week (в течении 3-х дней на прошлой неделе);
0 I was doing my dissertation for 3 days last week from Monday to Wednesday
0 Etc.
Большинство временных указателей ставится в конце предложения.

For example: They were playing football from 12 till 2 p.m yesterday.
