PARTS OF A

RESEARCH
PAPER
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTIO
N
Background of the Study
This part presents the rationale of the
study, the problem being explored and
what is / are the possible solution that
the study will provide.
Statement of the Problem
It is the description of an issue currently
existing which needs to be addressed. It
provides the context for the research study
and formulates the questions which the
research aims to answer.
Significance of the Study
This determines who will benefit
from the study and how can they be
benefited by the study.
Scope and Limitation of the Study
Scope refers to how far the research area has
explored and parameters in which the study will
be operating in. The scope defines the problem or
subject that a researcher plans to study.
Limitations are factors that the researcher
encounters that inadvertently narrow the scope of
the study.
Definition of Terms
Are composed of terms that will be
used in the study and is defined
operationally.
Conceptual / Theoretical
Framework
It represents the researchers’ synthesis of
literature on how to explain a phenomenon.
It maps out the actions required in the course
of the study.
CHAPTER II
REVIEW OF RELATED
LITERATURE
A review of related literature is the
process of collecting, selecting, and
reading books, journals, reports,
abstracts, and other reference
materials related to the study being
undertaken.
CHAPTER III
METHODOLOG
Y
This chapter presents the discussion on the
research methodology of the study, the
research design, the subjects, sampling
technique, research instruments, procedure of
data gathering and statistical treatment that
will be used for data analysis and
interpretation.
CHAPTER IV
RESULT AND
DISCUSSION
This chapter is where you report
your findings (result) and how you
interpret these results. Discussion of
the result and its relevance in the
research problem is presented in this
chapter.
CHAPTER V
SUMMARY, CONCLUSION
AND RECOMMENDATION
Summary is a thorough overview
of a research report where key
ideas and concepts are
synthesized.
Conclusion is the part of the
chapter that answers the
questions stated in the
statement of the problem.
Recommendation is where the
researchers presents their critical
suggestions regarding the best
course of action in a certain
situation.
