Framework is a methodology adopted by the
Ministry of Education, Government of India, to
rank institutions of higher education in India.

Framework (NIRF) was launched in 2016
to rank higher educational institutions in
the country based on objective criteria to
promote competitive excellence in the
higher educational institutions.

University Grants Commission and
headquartered in Bangalore.

COUNCIL (NAAC) conducts assessment
and accreditation of Higher Educational
Institutions (HEI) such as colleges,

to derive an understanding of the 'Quality
Status' of the institution.

• Assessment is a performance evaluation
of an institution and /or its units and is
accomplished through a process based on
self-study and peer review using defined
criteria. Accreditation refers to the
certification given by NAAC which is valid
for a period of five years.
