Love
Lesson 6
Who do you love?
1 John 4: 7-9

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from
God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows
God.  Whoever does not love does not know God, because
God is love.  This is how God showed his love among us: He
sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live
through him.

5
Loving others fulfills the law…

Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another,
for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law.
- Romans 13:8

6
1. I am the Lord your God: you shall not have
strange gods before me.
2. You shall not take the name of the Lord your Loving God
God in vain.
3. Remember to keep holy the Lord's Day.
4. Honor your father and your mother.
5. You shall not kill.
6. You shall not commit adultery.
Loving Others
7. You shall not steal.
8. You shall not bear false witness against your
neighbor.
9. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife.
10. You shall not covet your neighbor's goods.

When asked what was the most important commandment, Jesus
answered…

"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel: The Lord
our God, the Lord is one.  Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with
all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is
this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself. ’ There is no commandment greater
than these."

-Mark 12:29-31
The Parable of the Good
Samaritan
Luke 10:25-37
10
A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he
was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes,
beat him and went away, leaving him half dead.

11
A priest happened to be going down the same road, and
when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side.

12
So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him,
passed by on the other side.

What would you do if you saw someone

needing your help?

13
But a Samaritan, as he travelled, came where the man

was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him.

14
He went to him and
bandaged his wounds,
pouring on oil and wine.

15
Then he put the man on his own
donkey, brought him to an inn and
took care of him.

16
The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the
innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will
reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’

17
“Which of these three do

you think was a neighbor to the man

who fell into the hands of robbers?”

The expert in the law replied,

“The one who had mercy on him.”

Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”

18
1. Who were the characters in the story?

2. What did the priest and Levite do when they saw the injured man?

3. What did the Samaritan do to the injured man?

4. Why do you think Jesus said that the Samaritan was the neighbor to the man
attacked by robbers?

5. Based on the story how then should we love others?

19
18 Dear children, let us not
love with words or speech but
with actions and in truth.
1 John 3:18
Challenge:
Find a person in need and show
Christlike love expecting nothing
in return.

It can be through giving, offering

help, providing for their need, or
comforting them.
