1. Draw 5 circles aligned horizontally inside the box. Make sure that each circle has
enough space in between.

2. Draw a smaller circle at the following positions: before the first circle, after the fifth
circle, at the top of each of the five circles; and at the bottom of each of the five circles.
Make sure there is enough space between the circles.

EXAMPLES OF HYDROCARBONS AND
THEIR USES
 METHANE and ETHANE- used for heating and cooking
purposes and for power utilities (gas turbines)

 PROPANE and BUTANE-can be liquefied at fairly low

pressures, and are used, for example, in the propane gas burner,
or as propellants in aerosol sprays
EXAMPLES OF HYDROCARBONS AND
THEIR USES
 ETHENE- it is a plant’s compound that is responsible for the
ripening of fruits

 ETHYNE- also known as acetylene is used as fuel in an oxy-

acetylene flame used for welding of metals

 PROPYNE- used as a substitute for acetylene in welding

because it can safely be condensed to a liquid for transport and
storage
