Azerbaijani Poets And Writers
Azerbaijan is famous for its talented poets and writers. Their works have been translated into
different languages so that as many people as possible could read and learn about them. Their
names are known in many countries of the world. All of them are connected by the fact that
they are Azerbaijanis. In this presentation you can read and learn more about such poets and
writers as Samed Vurgun, Bakhtiyar Vagabzade, Mikail Mushifig and Mirza Fatali Akhundov
Samed Vurgun
The first publication of Samed Vurgun - the poem "Appeal to Youth" - was published in
1925 in the Tiflis newspaper "New Thought". It was written on the occasion of graduation
from seminary. The first book of the poet was published in 1930 - "The Poet's Oath".
The Great Patriotic War is of particular importance in the poet's work. During the war
years, the poet created more than 60 poems, several poems, including the poem "Baku
Dastan". During these years, S. Vurgun's poetic fame was expanding. The first publication
of Samed Vurgun - the poem "Appeal to Youth" - was published in 1925 in the Tiflis
newspaper "New Thought". It was written on the occasion of graduation from seminary.
The first book of the poet was published in 1930 - "The Poet's Oath". In 1943 in America, at
the competition for the best anti-war works, S. Vurgun's poem "Mother's Advice" was
highly appreciated. And among the 20 best poems of world poetry on a military theme
selected at the competition, it was published in New York and distributed among the
military . In the same year in Baku, on his initiative, the House of the Intelligentsia named
after A. Fuzuli for military events and for meetings with front-line soldiers.
Bakhtiyar Vagabzade
Bakhtiyar Vagabzade - People's Poet and Honored Worker of Arts of the Azerbaijan
SSR, full member of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. His works -
lyric poems, dramas and publications - have been translated into many languages of
the world. The creative path of the poet began during the Great Patriotic War.
