3. Pros and cons
1. Definition - IoT: stands for Internet of Things.
- It is a system of computing, mechanical,
digital or human that are provided with a
unique identification code (UID.
- Internet of Things devices can be objects
with sensors attached to collect data about
the surrounding environment,
computers/controllers that receive data and
give commands to other devices, or other
devices.
1. Definition
History of the formation and development of IoT
-The idea of adding sensors and intelligence to ordinary
objects was discussed throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
However, progress on this project was very slow because the
technology was not ready at the time. The chips were too
large and cumbersome, and there was no way for objects to
communicate effectively.
-Kevin Ashton coined the concept "Internet of Things" in
1999, despite the fact that the technology would take at least
another decade to scale as envisioned.
2. IoT system
The IoT system structure consists of 4 parts:

1. Things 4. Services-
creation and
Solution layers

3. Network and Cloud

2. Gateway
2. IoT system
Every IoT system has 4 steps:
- Sensing
- Sharing
- Processing data
- Making decisions.
- IoT devices share sensor data
collected by connecting to an
IoT gateway or other edge
device, where the data is sent to
the cloud for local analysis or
analysis.

4. IoT in life
For users and businesses: There are many real-world uses of
the Internet of Things, from consumer and enterprise IoT to
manufacturing and industrial IoT. Internet of Things
applications span many sectors, including automotive,
telecommunications, and energy.

In the healthcare sector, IoT offers many benefits, including

the ability to monitor patients more closely using the
analytics of the generated data. Hospitals often use IoT
systems to complete tasks such as inventory management
for both pharmaceuticals and medical instruments.
4. IoT in life
In a smart city also implementing IoT technology, such as
smart street lights and smart meters, can help reduce traffic
jams, save energy, monitor and address concerns about
environment as well as improve the problem of
environmental pollution.

In agriculture, IoT-based smart farming systems can help

monitor, such as light, temperature, humidity, and soil
moisture in a field using connected sensors. IoT is also
instrumental in automating irrigation systems.

IOT Privacy and Security:
- The Internet of Things (IoT) connects billions of
devices to the Internet and involves the use of
billions of data points, all of which need to be
secure.
- All a hacker has to do is exploit a vulnerability to
manipulate all of the data, rendering it unusable.
- Connected devices often require users to enter
personal information, including name, age, address,

- Internet of Things poses risks to critical infrastructure, including electricity, transportation, and financial services.
