The purpose of this report is to recommend ways
to increase the number of students who like to read
books and other texts.
In this report, we will focus on two topics: first,
the factors that make students not interested in
reading books and other text . Second, the ways to
make students interested in reading books and other
texts.

The Factors that make students not interested in reading
books and other texts.

Reading is very important activities for students. There are


some factors that make studets not interested in reading books
and other texts. According to Terry Heick (2019) in www.
Teachtought.com there are some reasons why students hate to
read. It happens because students have not found the right
book to read, they need to read reading texts or books that
based on daily life context and they do not get used to it.
Based on the survey, we found that many
students do not like to read because of several
reasons, which are lack of time, lack interest and a
lot of time to work. We can see on the bar chart
below.
From the bar chart above, we can see that 48,9 %
students do not like to read because they are lack of
time and lack of interest. Then, 14.3% students do
not like to read because they are working. After that
13.2% students do not like to read because they
prefer other activities.
We can conlude that students do not like to read
because they do not read the book that they like and
because they have other activities which consuming
time and they do not get use to read.

In conlusion, Many students do not like to read because they do
not read the book that they like and because they have other activities
which consuming time and they do not get use to read.
Short term and long term solutions for this problem. The short
term solutions are giving motivation and assignments for the students.
The long term solution are arranging reading and writing competition
and provide many interesting books in the library
