Concept of employee selection

• the technique of choosing a new member of the


organization from the available candidates.
• the process of choosing the most suitable candidate for a
particular position from among the prospective applicants
• to select the right person for the right job. It is concerned
with hiring as well as rejecting the applicants.

Effective selection process requires:

Clearly spelled out job description and job specification for the vacant positions.

Sufficiently large pool of prospective applicants.

Series of steps through which applicants pass.

Selection standards to be used in selection.

Facilitates environmental adaptation.

Methods to select the right employee
1. Initial Screening
• Identify hiring needs-You can’t get what you want unless you
know what you’re looking for
• Prepare Job Description
• Collect applications, CV and resumes
2. Employee Test
• Written test, Intelligence test, preference test,performance test,
Cognitive strengths test

3 . Interview
• communication between two or more persons. It is face to face
observation and appraisal of the candidate’s suitability for the
job
4. Background Study
• Information about background and character of the candidate
is checked from references listed in the application form 6

5. Final Interview
• When applicant is suitable from every aspect then final
interview is conducted. focus on the organizational services,
facilities, allowance in which candidates are agreed or not

6. Physical and medical assessment Examination


• Check physical condition and health condition of the employee

7. Final Selection decision


• The final selection decision depends on the information received
from the application form , referee’s letter of
recommendation , test results, medical report, verification of
application form with the references and related documents.
