Summary

This study aimed to determine the experiences of financial management

students during their practicum pertinent to the enhancement of On-the-Job

Training guidelines. The subjects of the study were the graduates of financial

management students at Rodriquez Campus during the School Year 2015-2016

who underwent On-the-Job training. Their Performance was evaluated by their

supervisors.

The Qualitative Method of research was employed by the researchers in

this study. There were 10 respondents, 5 of them were financial management

students and the remaining 5 were their supervisors in their On-the-Job training.

Interview was conducted in gathering the needed data and information. The
researchers asked questions about the profile of the Financial Management

Students in terms of Age; Sex; Civil Status; and OJT Station as well as their

performance during their On- the-Job Training in terms of Personal Traits; and

Skills Performance. In addition, the researchers also asked about the problems

encountered by the practicumers during the On-the-Job Training the factors that

needs improvement.

The following findings were drawn by the researchers. On the profile of the

respondents in terms of sex, out of 10 respondents 8 of them were female and 2

of them were male. With regards to age, 5 of the respondents’ ages ranged from

19-24 years old. The other 5 respondents ranged from 35 years old and above.

On the Personal Traits, the graduates showed the following attributes: They wore

appropriate clothing or apparel; they had initiative to stay beyond office hours;

took criticisms positively; showed enthusiasm in doing their works; ensured the

work done without being told; they exerted effort in showing that they were part of

the group and followed instructions accurately. On the Skills and Performances,

most graduates relayed message/communication correctly. All of them worked as

encoder though some were slow in terms of typing. Some of the problems

encountered by the practicumers during their On-the-Job training, were they lack

of knowledge in using office equipment, unfamiliarity to work assigned, boredom

and sleepiness, failures, transportation difficulty, different attitudes of the

employees and consciousness to the subject matter. On the factors to be

improved, prominent among them were communication skills, enhancement of

self confidence, improvement of knowledge on technology, improvement of


interpersonal relationship, increase in productivity, provision a better

understanding of performance objective, increase trainee motivation and

improvement of their skills in typing.

Based on the findings revealed in the study, the researchers drew the

following conclusions. Females outnumbered males and most of them held the

On-the-Job training in known government agencies. Performance of On-the-Job

training in their respective stations is commendable. Tolerable problems are

encountered by the practicumers and Encoding skills is the most prevalent

among the factors to be improved.

Guided by the results of the study and the aforementioned conclusions,

the researchers are offering the following recommendations. Training

Institutions are encourage on continuing making their programs on training

more responsive to the needs of their clientele. URS Administration might

continue enhancing their On-the-Job training Program to make it more

responsive to the demands of the business world. Trainees may be serious in

learning during their trainings so that they will be benefited most in the future.

Students are encourage to continue improving themselves especially their

communication skills. Future Researchers may use the present study as their

reference in the conduct of their study using other variables.
