HOW LEARNING HAPPENS IN
THE BRAIN
 Learning occurs primarily in synapses, which are the connectors between neurons. When
learning any new information, even a new skill, the same reactions take place. What's more
amazing is that our brain actually grows as we learn.
THE FORGETTING CURVE
The forgetting curve shows
how learned information
slips out of our memories
over time – unless we take
action to keep it there. The
steepest drop in memory
happens quickly after
learning, so it's important to
revisit the information you've
learned sooner rather than
later.
SPACED REVISION
 By definition, spaced repetition, also known as distributed practice, is an extremely effective
learning approach where lessons are retaken at increasing intervals until knowledge is fully
embedded in long-term memory.
FOCUSED THINKING VS
DIFFUSED THINKING
 Focused Thinking is concentrated, conscious and relatively predictable. By contrast, Diffuse
Thinking is relaxed, occurs largely subconsciously, and can result in surprising connections.
PROCRASTINATION(THE
POMODORO TECHNIQUE)
 It's based on working in 25-minute intervals and using a timer to keep yourself
accountable. The name comes from the Italian word for “tomato” (the kitchen
timer that Cirillo first used was shaped like a tomato
