MAYO SCISSOR (CURVE)

is used to cut thick tissues such as those found in the


uterus, muscles, breast, and foot. It allows deeper
penetration into the surgical wound to cut thicker tissues
within the body.
MAYO SCISSORS (STRAIGHT)

is used near the surface of a surgical wound


to cut fascia and muscle layers.
- used to cut sutures and supplies.
- another name is Suture Scissors
METZENBAUM SCISSORS (METZ)

- are thin tipped dissecting scissors


- are used to incise the deep rib bed periosteal
layer, but they stay extrapleural.
- used to cut delicate tissues
KELLY CLAMP (CURVE)

- atraumatic and non-toothed clamp used to grasp tissue or vessels that will be tied
off.
- also used in blunt dissection
- are called homostats used to control blood flow
- curved of instrument goes with the curve of the surgeon’s palm
KELLY CLAMP (STRAIGHT)

- is used for cutting and clamping the umbilical cord.


- it resemble a pair of scissors with the blade replaced
by a blunted grip.
- it features a locking mechanism to allow them to act
as clamps.
NEEDLE HOLDER
OVUM FORCEPS

- used to grasp, hold, manipulate, and remove tissue


from inside the uterus including the ovum and placenta
- used in procedure such as CS, hysterectomy, and
uterine repair and sometimes used as hemostat.
SPONGE HOLDING FORCEPS

- used for holding swabs or sponge in medical procedures.


- they help minimize damage during surgery
- enables a physician to hold and move tissue very precisely
and gently.
OVUM HOLDING FORCEPS

- used to grasp, hold, manipulate and remove


tissues from inside the uterus including the ovum
and placenta.
STRAIGHT CATHETER/
INTERMITTENT CATHETER

- Is a thin, sterile tube inserted into the badder to


drain urine.
- is used one time and then thrown away.
LONG STRAIGHT SCISSORS

-
- used to cut non-biological materials such as when applying
bandages, removing bandages, suture cutting, tissue cutting
and dissection, suture removal.
EPISIOTOMY SCISSORS

- used to perform an incision in the peritoneum and vagina


during labor
- used to prevent traumatic tearing during delivery
CORD CLAMP DISPOSABLE

- used to hold the cord in place when the cut is made, and
the clamp mat stay on several days while remaining cord
attached to the baby dries.
SUCTIONED BULB

- used to remove mucus from the baby’s mouth or nose.


KIDNEY DISH/ EMESIS BASIN

- is a shallow basin with a kidney-shaped base and sloping


walls used in medical and surgical wards to recieve soiled
dressings and other medical waste.
SUCIONED CATHETER FR.8

- reduces the risk of aspiration, especially if there is


meconium, and to stimulate breathing
STERILE SPONGES

- used for general cleaning, dressings, prepping, packing


and debriding wounds.
- can be used as a temporary absorbent dressing over
wounds
STERILE TOWEL/DRAPE

- - used to drape the patient


- used to isolate the surgical site from the other areas of
the patient’s body and non sterile areas of the DR table
inorder to reduce the risk of surgical site infection.
MAYO TABLE

- a portable instrument stands with a tray on top used to


hold surgical instruments and materials during divery room
procedures
