Statement of the Problem

This study aims to create a fiber of

Water Spinach (Ipomoea aquatica)
as an alternative filler of
fiberglass. Specific questions to be
answer by the researcher are the
following:

1.Can be the Water Spinach

(Ipomoea aquatica) be an
alternative filler of the fiberglass?
2. Is there no significant difference
between the commercial fiberglass
and the fiberglass made up of Water
Spinach Fibers in terms off:

A)Carrying Capacity
B)Compressibility
C)Cost-Efficiency
D)Water Absorbency
E)Workability
Significance of the Study

The significant of this study is to

create a fiberglass from Water
Spinach which intends to help the
environment by using natural fibers
as its main filler and it can help
mostly in automotive industry
because almost vehicles has fiberglass
components and body kits and
different industries that use fiberglass.
Scope and Delimitation

The main focus of this study is to develop a high quality fiberglass from Water Spinach by
using it as the main filler. This study as limited in producing a high quality and durable
fiberglass.
fiberglass. This study can only be
applied on automotive industry and
other industries that use fiberglass.
The researcher focuses on making
and developing a new method of
making a high quality fiberglass.

Conclusions

There is a significant difference between the two treatments in terms of compressibility and water absorbency.
Base on the results, there is no significant difference between the commercial fiberglass and fiberglass made of
Water Spinach Fibers specifically in terms of: carrying capacity,cost-effectiiveness,and workability.
Recommendations

Based on the data gathered, it was proven that the Water Spinach Fibers can be used as substitute of
synthetic fiber as main material in fiberglass making. Hence, it is recommended that further study must be
conducted about different compositions of Water Spinach Fibers that can also be found on synthetic fiber
that are used in fiberglass making.
Commercialization of the product can also help the community to make an
environment-friendly product using the fiber from Water Spinach. The
researcher recommend to use Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) or other chemicals
to help the natural fiber resist more water. It is recommended to use a fiber-
enriched on aspiring researcher.
The researcher also recommend to use different possible techniques of
extracting the fiber, to make it more stronger and durable. Other chemicals
on applying to the fiberglass such as epoxy, for more appropriate physical
property is also recommend.
The researcher also recommend to perform the testings that
the researcher due to lack of finance. It is also recommended
that a further study must be conducted on how to improve
the quality of the product.
