Parts of the Ear


Parts of outer ear
1.Pinna - receives sound waves that travel through
the auditory canal
2.Auditory canal (ear canal)

Parts of the middle ear.


1.The rest of the ear canal
2.Eardrum- separates the outer ear from the
middle ear
3.The three little bones – hammer, anvil and
stirrup
Parts of the inner ear
1. Cochlea - is a snail-shaped tube in our
ear that is filled with liquid. This tube
also contains the nerves that send
messages to the brain.

2. Auditory nerve- transmits signals


from the internal ear to the brain.

1. Pinna collects the sound.
2. The eardrum shakes and vibrates.
3. The three small bones vibrates.
4. The liquid in the cochlea vibrates and
send messages to the brain through the
auditory nerve.
How to take care our ears
Ways of taking good care of our ears:

1. Never put anything inside the ear.


2. Wear earmuffs to protect the ears from the
cold.
3. Avoid very noisy places
4. Listen to not too loud radio or music
5. Consult a doctor when suffering from
sudden hearing loss
The Nose
Parts of the Nose
1. Nostrils – two holes of the nose
Function: The nostrils receive the scents
carried by air.

Cilia are found in the nostrils. They filter


the air that gets through your nose.
2. Nasal cavity
Function: The nasal cavity secretes
mucus which further cleans the air.

3. Olfactory Nerve -The nerves in the


nasal cavity send messages to the brain
which interprets what we have smelled.
How to take care our NOSE
Ways of taking good care of our NOSE:
1. Avoid inserting small objects to the nose.
2. Consult a doctor when there is problem in
the nose.
3. Cover the nose when passing a dusty road
4. Use a clean handkerchief or cloth in
cleaning the nose.
