Voice
What does ‘voice’ in grammar mean?
Voice refers to the form of the verb that indicates
when a grammatical subject performs the action or is
the receiver of the action.
Active Voice
Beautiful giraffes roam the savannah.

The active voice


Mom read the novel in one day. describes a sentence
where the subject
performs the action stated
by the verb.
A forest fire destroyed the whole suburb.
Passive Voice
The savannah is roamed by beautiful giraffes.

With passive voice,


The novel was read by Mom in one day. the subject is the
receiver of the action.

The whole suburb was destroyed by a forest fire.
