Analyzing the Prompt
➝ A writing prompt is simply a topic around which you start
jotting down ideas. The prompt could be a single word, a
short phrase, a complete paragraph or even a picture, with
the idea being given to you- something to focus upon as
you write. For example-
➝ It was the first snowfall of the year….
➝ He hadn’t seen her since the day they left High School….
➝ The city burned, fire lighting up the night sky….
➝ Once there lived a tortoise and a hare…..
➝ She studied her face in the mirror….

3
Analyzing the Prompt
➝ Consider the hunch or key that are given in the prompt
➝ Find out the tense of the prompt
➝ Try to find out the theme of the story from the prompt

4
Plot
➝ Plot means the logical construction of your story.
It is meant to organize information and events in a
logical manner.
➝ For your story you will have to set the matrix.
That means you should plan the logical
progression of the story which will include rising
action, climax , falling action and resolution.

6
Plot

is given below
➝ Rising action-The tortoise challenged the here ( as
a result a number of events took place such as
arranging a race)
➝ Climax : The Hare reached near the finishing line
and decided to take rest
➝ Falling action : The hare fell asleep and the
tortoise kept going.

7
Title
You must choose a title that has a significance
The title must be relevant to the story
The title should be interesting that "hooks" the reader's
attention so that he or she will keep on reading

8
Outlining
➝ Divide your story into paragraphs. The
purpose of paragraphs is to break up the
story into its logical divisions so that
readers can easily grasp the structure
and thought. If we do not divide it into
paragraphs, we would find out a story
monotonous ,difficult and time-
consuming.
➝ A lapse of attention causes distraction,
even if only for a moment. The visible
outline of steps and divisions in writing
is necessary to flesh out the idea.
➝ Provide structure to your story.Divide
your story into at least 5 paragraphs
according to the progression of thought.

It was the first snowfall of the year. Carren was standing on the street. Light snow
had begun to fall—tiny crystals hardly visible in the light of the lamp across the
street. And the snow made the place look so magical . All the roads were hidden,
not a single landmark was visible, only a waste of snow with trees rising out of
it……
