REHEARSALS AND

IT’S KINDS
REHEARSAL
▪A practice session in preparation for a
public/theater performance.
5 TYPES OF REHEARSALS
▪ Reading Rehearsal
▪ Blocking Rehearsal
▪ Working Rehearsal
▪ Technical Rehearsal
▪ Dress Rehearsal
1.) READING REHEARSAL
▪ Also known as script reading.
▪ This is when the script is being read and studied by
actors for them to know more about the story and
their character.
2.) BLOCKING REHEARSAL
▪ This is the time when movement, scenes, and stage
business are being determined and/or created.
▪ Pre-blocking is the preparation of all actors and
onstage activity.
▪ In-blocking occurs when the director and actors
come together to develop blocking on rehearsal
space.
3.) WORKING REHEARSAL
▪This is the most creative part of the
process when words and actions are put
together.
4.) TECHNICAL REHEARSAL
▪This is when lights, props, and special
effects are incorporated, cue-to-cue also
takes place.
TYPES OF TECHNICAL REHEARSAL
▪ Dry Tech is a technical run-through conducted without actors.
The crew will be in charge and practice scene changes such as
curtains, trap door, etc.
▪ Cue-to-cue refers to the literal movement from one cue to the
next, it is used to practice and modify any necessary cues such
as lighting and performance.
▪ Wet Tech is a technical run-through conducted with actors.
Actors should speak in the stage voices they plan to use during
the performance so that the microphone volume can be
adjusted.
5.) DRESS REHEARSAL
▪All actors must be in full costume and
makeup.
▪The rehearsal should be able to run from
beginning until the end.
THE IMPORTANCE OF
REHEARSING
▪We should value it’s significance because
through rehearsals the actors find time to get to
know each other, learn and explore one
another, develop an awareness and curiosity for
their scene partner to reach meaningful anc
emotional depths together.
