something.

• A mini-PT can be anything; it
can be a piece of work students
are asked to do to show how well
they apply their knowledge,
skills, or abilities—from writing
an essay to diagnosing and fixing
a broken circuit or presenting an
educational video.

WHAT IS AN
ADVOCACY?
• Advocacy is an activity by an
individual or group that aims to
influence decisions within political,
economic, and social institutions.
• An advocate – a person who speaks
or writes in favor of an argument
or a cause.

• Advocacy is defined as any action
that speaks in favor of,
recommends, argues for a cause,
supports or defends, or pleads on
behalf of others.
• Is defined as an active support to
an idea or a cause.

ADVOCACY CAMPAIGN OUTLINE
Conduct Advocacy Research
A. Gather initial information about a social problem or issue. This
includes beginning research to understand the problem.
B. Define the problem: three step process –
i. Become aware of the issue
ii. Refine the problem within the small groups or
organizational context
iii. Determine problem priorities

Develop the mission, goals and objectives for the campaign

A. The Mission – the mission statement tells what the


campaign is about. It is a broad statement which provides
general direction for organization or task. Groups work
(ex. What the campaign is about: STAY HOME – Stay
Safe, End Corona Virus)

B. The Goals – goals provide a general direction and


commitment to action, but are rarely achieved (Ex. To
reduce tobacco advertising aimed at minors, to improve
nutrition in school lunches or canteen)

C. The objectives – objectives are relevant, attainable,


measurable, and time limited outcomes to be achieved.

practices the project hopes to bring about.
ii. Include the specific changes (new policies)
sought by the advocacy campaign.

GRASP
Goal​: To produce a presentation that will showcase a specific social issue/problem in the
community.
Role​: an advocate and a member of a Non-Government Organization (NGO)

Audience​: your Local Government Unit (LGU) and the social groups you belong.

Situation​: majority of the younger generations aren’t aware of important social issues/problems
due to the distraction of social media, especially in dealing with fake news in these social media
platforms.

Product​: Create an advocacy campaign and produce an output (ppt, pdf, infographics) that will
raise awareness of a social issue/problem.
