LINE
This refers to a prolongation of a point, or a
mark on a surface.

Solid lines can be used in order to define form


while broken lines are typically used to suggest
hidden forms. Lines are also used to suggest
dimensions and to guide visual movement.

This element refers to an area with boundaries
identified or drawn using lines.

Based on natural or living forms and can be irregular or
rounded

COLOR
This refers to visual perception that allows a person
to differentiate objects due to the way various
wavelengths of light are reflected.

1. COMPLEMENTARY
colors opposite to each other on the color wheel
2. ANALOGOUS
colors that are next to each other on the color wheel
3. TRIAD
colors that are evenly spaced around the color wheel
4. SPLIT-
COMPLEMENTARY
uses the two colors adjacent to its complement
5. RECTANGLE
(TETRADIC)
uses four colors arranged into two complementary pairs
6. SQUARE
uses four colors spaced evenly around the color circle
7. MONOCHROMATIC
This color scheme involves using the same hue but with
different gradients of value.
VALUE
This element refers to lightness or darkness of an
area. This element is evident in creating shadow for
a two-dimensional object to give an illusion of
depth.

Value pertains to the lightness or darkness of a color.


TEXTURE
element refers to the feel or appearance of a surface.

TEXTURE COULD BE:

can be felt tangibly

• Implied
texture that is created to look like something it is not.
SPACE
Space refers to the area that is occupied by an object or
a subject, as well as the area surrounding that object or
subject.

• Positive

• Negative/White/Dead
The background
Form
Form is the three-dimensionality of an object. It has
dimensions of height, width and length.
