 Definition of
descriptive text
 Descriptive text is a genre of the text which contains
explanation and descriptions of an object,from its shape,
function, characteristics,etc.
 The object can be varied,it can be a person, an animal, a
place, a thing, etc.
 The Purpose of
Descriptive Text
• To describe an object
• To inform the reader about a particular thing.
 Language features
• Using present tense
• Using a lot of adjectives:(beautiful, Small, and cute)
• Using actions verb:(sleep,walk and run).
• Figurative language:(My love for you is as big as the ocean. – Cintaku
padamu seluas lautan).
 Generic structure
• Identification:In this part identification contains about the
general introduction of a person, place, animal or object will
be described
• Description:it contains a description of something such as
animal, things, place, or person by describing its features,
forms, colors, or anything related to what the writer describes.

My Persian cat
I have a Persian cat, its name is Kiky, Kiky has short legs, Large eyes, and
Short muzzle, Kiky has long and soft fur. Kiky likes fish and milk, Kiky is
playful and I love it so much.
