BACKGROUND OF THE
STUDY
Tourism is at its core, an interactive service.
This means that host guest interaction is
inevitable. This is a social, cultural and
economic phenomenon which entails the
movement of people to places outside their
usual environment to have a quick escape from
monotonous routine and travel places from the
boundaries at home in quest of recreation and
relaxation.

STATEMENT
OF THE
PROBLEM
This study aims to identify the impacts of tourism promotion in enhancing the
capabilities of the tourism sector. It also seeks to examine the impact on the
people of the Calbayog City.
Specially,it sought to answer the following question:
1. What is the demographic profile of participants in terms of:
1.1 Social Image
1.2 Location of residence
1.3 Social Status
2. What is the economic impact of social image in terms of:
2.1 Personal Economy
2.2 Business Economy
3. What is the effect of social image in tourism development?
4. Is there any significant relationship between social image and local tourism development?
5. What are the ways to promote and enhance the social image off local tourism in City of
Calbayog?

SCOPE AND LIMITATION
This study is a survey-descriptive research. It will focus on the
relationship of social image and local tourism development. The
general intent of this study is to know the of how the social
image help promoting the local tourism. This study will mainly
identify the impact of social image in local tourism
development. Also, this study will be conducted with limited
amount of financial resources and time framework.

CHAPTER 2
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
AND STUDIES
This chapter gives idea about the related literature and studies
after discussing the impacts of social image to the local tourism
development. The literature and studies presented at this chapter
cited the ideas, concept, generalization, and conclusion about
the topic. Moreover, this information considered as guide for the
future researchers.

Related Literature Foreign
According to Leonard Lockorish and Carson Jenkins, Tourism
is the essential guide to the tourism industry. It provides a
comprehensive and authoritative introduction to all facets of
tourism including: the history of tourism; factors influencing the
tourism industry; tourism in developing countries; sustainable
tourism; forecasting future trends. Tourism has changed
radically in recent years with the onset of many technological
and economic changes and an ever increasing concern for the
environment

Related Literature Local
The interests of Finnish residents are determined as well as their
concerns and willingness to travel to the Philippines are
recognized. Understanding the importance of the destination
image, its useful components, its formation and how it is measured
are highlighted in the literature review of the report. To clearly
understand and analyse the results, several theories and
background studies about the Philippines as a destination and
Finnish residents’ traveller behaviours are introduced. Quantitative
research is the methodology used to systematically investigate the
image of the Philippines through the traveler’s perspectives.

CHAPTER 3
Research Methodology
In this chapter we will be discussing more about our research,
the research method, research environment, research
respondents, sampling design and procedure, research
instruments, validation of instrument, data gathering procedure,
data analysis procedure, and statistical procedure.

Research Method
In order to see the general picture of the impact of social image
to the local tourism development, the correlational research will
be used. This study use a correlational research because it will
focus on the relationship of social image and local tourism
development. The researchers will be using quantitative
approach in conducting the study to observe conditions and
impacts to the people for this study.

Research Environment
This research will be conducted in Calbayog City. The
researchers are going to ask somebody about their point of
view and how was their experience while staying here in
Calbayog City. The researchers will also use technology to get
some helpful information in making our research success.

Research Respondents
The respondents of the study are the local community and
tourists. They are the one we need because only people also
know the true nature of each other. With that, we can easily
identify and evaluate of how the social image affects the local
tourism development and what its impact.

Sampling Design/Procedure
Research Procedures/ Sampling Procedure In this study, the
researchers used a purposive sampling in order to attain their
objectives and select their respondents purposively. During the
revision, the panelist decided to change our first title which is
‘’Impact of competitive tourism advertising and promotion in
enhancing the capabilities of the tourism sector’’ into “Impact of
Social Image to the Local Tourism Development”. With this, the
researchers make an adjustment since they are going to start in the
very first part of the research study.They started making chapter 1,
2 and 3 and they submitted it for correction and revision.

Research Instrument
In these study, the researchers will be using questionnaire. The
questionnaire is a set of orderly arranged question carefully
prepared to answered by a group of people designed to collect
the facts and information.

Data Gathering Procedure
The researchers will have an allotted vigorous time, effort, and
cooperation in developing and editing their questionnaire to
serve its intended respondents. The survey will use suitable
questions modified from related research.
