Cut out Manipulation

Facial Manipulation (Face Peel)


Step 1: Open up your image in photoshop

Make sure to unlock your layer


Step 2: Select your image using the selection tool or lasso tool

To get rid of the background, press “add layer mask” which is in the bottom right-hand corner of your page
Step 3: Click the crop button, Change the sizing on the top column to 16:9, then hit the tick on the top above your image
Step 4: Create a new layer by clicking the icon the arrow below is pointing at

In this screenshot the new layer is above your main


layer, but make sure you DRAG IT UNDERNEATH
Step 5: Make your background

Make sure your background layer is selected !!!

Select the paint brush tool, adjust the sizing using the square bracket keys (the
keys circled below)

Press the colour box on the left side panel (where the arrow is showing)
and select a dark grey colour

You then go over the whole image with your paint brush tool
Step 6: Select Lasso tool

Before selecting these areas, make sure you have your selection on X2 so that you can create more than one selection
Step 7: What we want gone is outside of the selection so click “select” and then click on “inverse”
Step 8: Activate layer mask

You activate layer mask by clicking on this specific square


Step 9: make sure your colour block is black and press ALT and Backspace at the same time

Step 10: go to “select” and press “deselect”


NOW CREATING BACKGROUND STRIPS
Step 11: Create a new layer and make sure it is this new layer that is selected for this next step
Step 12: Select your lasso tool

Using the lasso tool, start from the top and go to the top left corner of your cut out, down to the bottom left then
up to the bottom right, up to the top right to make a messy looking rectangular shape

Repeat this (top right


corner should link to
the top left corner of
the cut out below)

matter if it looks messy,
it will all come together

Step 13: Next you need to add in colour to these new selections

Click brush tool, press ALT key and select your colour from the image
Step 14: with this colour you have selected, go over the selections with it

Step 15: click “select” then “deselect”


Step 16: Grab this layer and put it underneath your main layer

Step 17: Press CTRL T, right click and select “warp”
Drag the cut outs around a little to make a more circular effect
