Define Organize Crime

Organize Crime is criminal activities that are planned and controlled by powerful
groups and carried out on a large scale. It is a continuing criminal enterprise that
rationally works to profit from illicit activities that are often in great public
demand. Its continuing existence is maintained through corruption of public
officials and the use of intimidation, threats or force to protect its operations.
Organized crime, is a complex of highly
centralized enterprises set up for the purpose of
engaging in illegal activities. Such organizations
engage in offenses such as cargo theft, fraud,
robbery, kidnapping for ransom, and the
demanding of “protection” payments. If the
criminals plan, coordinate, and conduct crimes
on a continuing basis, they are participating in
organized crime. In most cases, the criminals’
motivation is financial gain.
