DEFINITION OF VIDEO CONFERENCING

 Video teleconferencing is a communication technology that permits users at


two or more location to interact and system transmit bi-directional audio,
video data streams during the session
 videoconference or video conference (also known as a video teleconference)
is a set of interactive telecommunication technologies which allow two or
more locations to interact via two-way video and audio transmissions
simultaneously.
 It has also been called 'visual collaboration' and is a type of groupware.
WHAT IS VIDEO CONFERENCING

 Transmission of image and speech back and forth between two or more
separate locations
 Similar to making a phone call .
 An opportunity to talk to and see others in real time.
 Video conferencing is simply a vehicle for interactive communication.
 It enables one set of people to see and hear people in a different location
its most basic form is the transmission of image (video) and speech (audio) back
and forth between two or more physically separate locations.  Also known as
“Videoteleconference”.

LIMITATIONS OF VIDEO CONFERENCING
 Limitations of Video Conferencing :
 High Price
 Limited to a certain number of users at the same time (depending on the
system/program you use
 Audio quality with large groups
 Technical Problems: The major disadvantages are the technical difficulties
associated with smooth transmissions that could result from software,
hardware or network failure. Remote connections are sometimes known to be
hampered by environmental changes. On some occasions, the absence of
technical support personnel creates difficulty for participants who are
unfamiliar with the videoconferencing technological concepts required, then a
substantial amount of expenditure must be done.
 Lack of Personal Interaction Another major drawback is the lack of personal
interaction, that sets the tone for many business meetings in highly cultural
societies. A handshake and an eye contact are essential aspects of many
business meetings. Some meetings require a personal touch to be successful.
