Advocates for equal human rights for all. Advocates for equal digital rights and access for all.

Does not steal or damage others’ property. Respects the digital privacy, intellectual property and others’ rights
of people online.

Personal responsibility
-managing ourselves in matters such as personal finance,
ethical and moral boundaries, personal health and wellness,
and relationships of every kind, both online or offline.
-developing a sense of accountability for lifelong learning in our
students prepares them for the workplace

Encouraging this in the classroom as early as possible can


help students develop high-level critical thinking and problem
solving abilities to assist them in every aspect of their lives.

Global citizenship
-technology has dissolved boundaries between all the world’s
people ( can communicate, collaborate, and celebrate) and
across all levels of society.
-A deep understanding of this new global interconnectedness
can encourage them to be aware of the issues, traditions,
values, and cultures of other citizens.

-The norms of appropriate, responsible behavior with regard to
technology use.
-covers appropriate and exemplary behavior in our online
environments
-making our transparent digital world safe for ourselves and others
- involves moving accountability for appropriate behavior to our

community. ”

Why do we need to be Global Digital Citizens?
Personally - we face the daily possibility of online fraud, identity theft, and online
bullying.

Globally - see the need that all diversity has to be recognized, honored, and cherished
for present and future generations.

Digitally - online perils do exist. Global Digital Citizen sets an example to others on
how to navigate them safely and securely.

Altruistically - we have more means to help others.

Environmentally - we continue to face growing threats such as climate change,


resource depletion, industrial pollution, and more.

Digital access
-Equal digital rights and electronic access is the starting point of digital
citizenship.
-Digital access is supposed to be available to all in the same manner that
education is made sure by the Philippine government to be available to all
citizens.
-The Republic Act 10929 was signed on July 25, 2016 requiring all public
places in the country to have free internet access. It covers national and local
government offices, public basic education institutions, state universities and
colleges and TESDA technology institutions, public parks and barangay
reading centers.
-To become productive citizens, we need to provide and expand access to
technology and we need to be committed that no one is denied digital access.

Digital commerce
-Technology users need to understand that a large share of market
economy is being done electronically (purchases of toys, clothing,
cars, food, etc.)
-Legitimate and legal exchanges are occurring, but the buyer or
seller needs to be aware of the issues associated with it.
-Users need to learn about how to be effective consumers in a new
digital economy.

Digital communication

-The electronic exchange of communication which includes


emailing, texting, instant messaging, utilizing cellphones, etc.
-One of the significant changes within the digital revolution is a
person’s ability to communicate with other people.
-In 19th century, forms of communication were limited.

Digital literacy
-technologies must be taught as well as how it should be used
-requires sophisticated searching and processing skills (i.e.,
information literacy)
-the responsibility to develop and continually enhance our
technological knowledge
-Digital Citizenship involves educating people in a new way-
these individuals need a high degree of information literary
skills.

Digital Etiquette
-one of the most pressing problems when dealing with Digital
Citizenship.
 young people tend to lose distinction between what is
appropriate and what is not
-This refers to the electronic standards of conduct or
procedure.
-It is not enough to create rules and policy, we must teach
everyone to become responsible digital citizens in this new
society.

-it deals with the ethics of technology within a society.
-refers to the electronic responsibility for actions and deeds
-Ethical use manifests itself in the form of abiding by the laws
of society.
-Plagiarism, copyright infringement, hacking of information,
identity theft are crimes that are violated by online users.

Digital Rights and Responsibilities
-Digital Citizens have the right to privacy, free speech, etc.
-Basic digital rights must be addressed, discussed, and
understood in the digital world.

every privilege, there is a corresponding responsibility.”

Digital Health and Wellness
-Eye safety, repetitive stress syndrome, and sound ergonomic
practices are issues that need to be addressed in a new
technological world.
-Our physical and psychological well-being in a digital
technology world should be a priority.
-Digital Citizenship includes a culture where technology users
are taught how to protect themselves through education and
training.

Digital Security(self-protection)
-the need to have virus protection, backups of data, and surge
control of our equipment.
-It is about building safe places and communities,
understanding how to manage personal information, and
about being savvy – using our online presence to grow and
shape our world in a safe, creative way, inspiring others to do
the same ( Blackboard,2018)
