Critical Reading
Critical reading enables readers to go beyond understanding a text and to evaluate the arguments in the
text.

Critical reading is close, attentive reading that actively questions, analyzes, and evaluates a written
work

The goal of critical reading is to examine not only what message is conveyed but also how the
message is conveyed as well as its purpose, target audience, and other ways of presenting it.
