Introduction

 What is a Social Network?

A network of social interactions and personal
relationships.
A dedicated website or other application which enables
users to communicate with each other by posting information,
comments, messages, images, etc.
• Social networking services are, Internet-based
applications.
• User-generated content (UGC) is the lifeblood of social
networking services.
• Users create service-specific profiles for the site or app
that are designed and maintained by the Social
Networking Network organization.
What is Decentralized Social Network?

• Decentralized social networks operate on independently run

servers, rather than on a centralized server owned by a business.
• Decentralized Social Networks Block Chain based technology.
• It is not maintained by a central organization or central authority.
DECENTRALIZED INTERNET

• Decentralized internet is a people-powered kind of internet that

makes the web more democratic as there is no hosting company.
• Decentralization is key to ensuring that the Internet remains a
public resource that is healthy and available to all of us
Usage Of Block Chain In Decentralized Social Network

• A blockchain is a data structure, which is a growing list of

data blocks.
• Blockchain holds transactional records and while ensuring
security, transparency, and decentralization.
• blockchain has been described as a value-exchange
protocol.
• Blockchain Social Media are nothing but decentralized
platforms that allow the development of applications and
smart contracts.
• The major benefit of such platforms is that they offer end-
to-end encryptions for every interaction enabling
individuals to have more privacy and control over their
information.
• Unlike traditional social networks user data is always kept
private and only the user has the authorization to share his
data.
Decentralized Social Network vs Centralized Social
Network
 Concerns related to with Traditional Social Networks:
Centralized social networks have complete control over
users’ data.
Thus centralized social networks violet the users privacy
Almost all existing social media networks keep track of
their users’ activity.
 Since all platforms such as Facebook, Whatsapp, Twitter,
and others are centralized, they very well exploit the user’s
content.
Advantages Of Decentralized Social Network

• Privacy of Information and freedom of expression.

• Let users permanently save their content.

• Content Producers to Get Paid for Creating and Sharing

Their Content.
• Censorship resistance.

• A decentralized social network allows users more control.

• Economic Neutrality.

• Liberates itself from invasive advertising and the risk to privacy it poses.

• DDos attack protection.

Disadvantages of Decentralized Social Network
• Content created once cannot be destroyed.

• Hard to push updates for root administrator.

• Cannot maintain anonymity.

• Social Media Marketing is mostly restricted to local nodes.

Future Scope

• Can Decentralized Social Media App Development Sustain

Marketing Requirements?

• Giving Cryptocurrency Incentives to Users in Exchange for

Their Data.

• Eliminate the Need for Intermediaries

• Examples of decentralized social network alternative to
centralized networks:
1.Mastodon (Alternative to Twitter),
2.The Fediverse,
3.Sola,
4.Diaspora,
5.Manyverse,
6.Minds.
