Special Training Center/ Gyan Lok

Special Training for 6- 14 years Special Training (ST) is a
critical component under the RTE Act with a medium term
vision.

1. Special Training Center should be setup within regular

school premises.

2. It ensures optimum use of school infrastructure.

  
3. The child will be taught in the STC and will be
periodically assessed for learning competencies of the
age-appropriate class.

The STC teacher plays a
very pivotal role in
ensuring seamless entry of
an Out of School child in
formal schooling system.  
 The work profile of an STC teacher requires more 21

skill and adaptability than that of a regular teacher.

Some of the responsibilities entrusted to an STC teacher
are as follows-
1. Conduct a survey in the neighborhood area of the
school to identify Out of School Children in the age
group of 6 to 14 years who have either never been
enrolled in a school or have dropped out.

2. Facilitate the admission of these

children in the age appropriate

class in the school
3. Conduct a baseline assessment to
ascertain the learning level of the
child.
