PALO SEBO

What Is Palo Sebo?
Palosebo is one of traditional game in
the Philippines, where contestants try to
climb the pole in turns to secure the
prize, and anyone who fails to reach the
top is disqualified.
Long and straight bamboo poles are
polished and greased, after which a
small bag containing the price is tied to
the top. The bag usually contain the
money, sweet or toys. Sometimes a
small flag is used instead of the actual
prize, which is given to the winners
afterward.
History And Origins
The name of this game
derives from the spanish
world Palo (Stick pole) and
Sebo (Grease). Many people
enjoy this.
The game is usually played by
boys during a town. Fiesta or
on special occasions in the
various province Philippines.
Mechanics Of The Game
(Rules And Regulation)
*4 bamboo aligned at a distance
with 3 colored banderas placed at
the peak.
*In every game an assigned
colored banderas will be picked
*Picking the wrong colored
banderas means the player will
repeat his climb until he picks the
right one.
*In the event, all players will not
be able to reach for the banderas
scoring will be made by how far
the players climb the bamboo
with 3 color band placed near the
peak as indicator.
Who invented Palosebo?
The work Palosebo was created by initial
sanggawa group member Elmer Bolongan
and Karen Flores (1967)

How to play this game?


Contestants try to climb the pole in turns
to secure the prize, and anyone who fails
to reach the top is disqualified. The
winner is the one who succeeds in
reaching and untying the price or
retrieving the flag.

*10 meter bamboo pole with a 10-16
centimeter (Long and straight bamboo)
*Small bag

*Lard or greased
