Objective

To understand the overall development in Forensic Science in International world with

respect to its evolution throughout the history.
Brief Introduction

● Forensic science in layman term means application of techniques and principles of natural
and physical sciences to question law in criminal and civil matters by forensic investigator
to analyse and examine evidences to solve crime.
● Forensic science is basically used in tandems with any discipline that has associated with
legal system.
● To better understand it, almost any science can be a forensic science because almost any
science can contribute to solving a crime or evaluating a civil harm.
● “Forensic” comes from the Latin word “forensis” meaning forum.
● Forensic science is not new to world, it has a history 44 BC, Rome and 3000 BC Egypt.

International standards
development
International standards development
● A standard defines the specifications and procedures a product, service or system should follow to ensure it
is safe, reliable and performs as intended. The use of standards can be applied to the accreditation of forensic
laboratories and facilities, as well as to the certification of products and services.
● SDOs are responsible for technical involvement in the development of standards within their country. A
SDO represents the country in the development of international standards and is accredited for the work they
do.
● ISO develops standards by addressing the needs in the market, relying on global expert opinions, developing
them through multi-stakeholder processes, and settling on consensus.
● Standards are developed by consensus according to a formula.
● When two-thirds of the participating members who submit a vote are in the affirmative, and no more than
one-quarter of all possible votes are in the negative, an ISO decision is considered to have been made.

the quality framework, outlining the role of standards.

CONCLUSION
The contemporary development of forensic science is contaminated with
Science Fictional shows, Daily soaps like CSI, CID, FBI, etc. but the reality is
quite harsh on this mentality. There had been a lot development in the field of
Forensic Science but it is still lagging behind in comparison to the other fields
of sciences. We can conclude by saying that the Forensic Science, though at
infancy stage, are the dawn of criminal justice system. In forensic science, one
of the most alarming issues is erroneous convictions based on faulty evidence.
A DNA test released almost 318 convicts who had been wrongly convicted
due to faulty forensic evidence. In terms of the scene of crime investigation,
most investigators are now adequately trained in the collection, preservation,
and packing and forwarding of forensic evidence due to lack of education and
training.
