● Check coolant level, add coolant, if


necessary
● Check fuel level, add fuel
● Check oil level in engine oil pan, add
oil if necessary
● Check engine exhaust color and
sound
● Drain water from fuel filter, this may
not be required with clean fuel supply
● Crankcase Breather Tube - Inspect
● Fuel-Water Separator - Drain

● Air Cleaner Restriction – Check / Correct


● Charge Air Cooler – Check / Correct
● Charge Air Piping – Check / Correct
● Radiator Hoses - Check
● Air Intake Piping — Inspect
● Cooling Fan — Check
● Coolant Level — Check / Correct
● Drive Belts — Check / Correct
● Sample Engine Oil
● Check Battery Electrolyte Level

Every 500 Hour Service

● Change Engine Oil and Filter


● Replace Fuel 10 micron Pre-Filters
● Engine Coolant - Antifreeze Check

Note: A B
● If is not recommended to pre-fill the fuel filters, the hand priming
pump on the 4/6D107-1 should be used after filter change.
● If fuel filters are pre-filled then always use clean fuel when filling with
fuel, and be careful not to let any dirt or dust get in.
 Add fuel from small hole (A) (dirty side) at eight places.
 Do not add fuel from hole (B) (clean side) at the center.
● DH-1 or CI-4 are the recommended engine oils.
● Higher fuel sulfur may require more frequent oil and filter changes.
Rely on oil sampling to verify oil performance

Every 1000 Hours Service

● Replace 2 micron fuel filter


● Cooling Fan Belt Tensioner – Check, Correct and
Lubricate
● Replace Corrosion Resistor Cartridge if equipped
● Check All Tightening Parts of Turbocharger
● Fan Hub – Check / Correct

Every 2000 Hours Service

● Clean, Check Turbocharger


● Check Play of Turbocharger Rotor
● Check Alternator, Starting Motor
● Check Engine Valve Clearance, Adjust
● Cooling System - Drain, Flush, and Fill
● Vibration Damper, Rubber or Viscous - Check

Note:
● If a premium coolant / antifreeze product is being used, follow manufactures
recommendations relating to change interval.
● Antifreeze is essential for freeze, overheat, and corrosion protection.
