TUBE SETTLER

TREATMENT
PLANT

Presented by

INTRODUCTION
 Tube settler also called as tube clarifier
shallow depth settler.
 It is of new advanced development of
sedimentation.
 If the settling velocity is less than Q/A then
tube settler works that to remove particles.
 Tube settler is require where the water
demand is less as compare to other water
treatment plant.
TUBE SETTLER
 It is provided at shallow depth.
 In sedimentation tank removal of sludge
through mechanical means create
difficulties, therefore overcome on this
problems tube settlers are used now a days.
CONSTRUCTION

 The tube is of 25 to 50 mm in diameter &

which provides in a tank such as make single
unit & closer to each other as shown in fig.
 Tubes made up of PVC plastic to reduce the
cost.
ADVANTAGE
I. Flexible configurations .
II. Required Very Less Space.
III. Easy installation .
IV. No Power Consumption.
V. Simple in Operation.
VI. Easily Mobility.
VII. No moving parts, operates totally on
Gravity.
PACKAGED TREATMENT
PLANT
INTRODUCTION

 The package water treatment plant is

constructed for village ,apartments or small
area.
 As we see in other treatment plant it required
large area and such type of plant constructed
in such case the cost will be more.
 Also it require mechanical equipment having
moving parts , electric energy for operation
and skilled labour for maintenance.
 To overcome this problem a low cost package
water treatment plant is proposed.
 Package plants are treatment units that are
assembled in a factory ,mounted on a skid,
and transported to the treatment site, or
alternatively, transported as component
units to the site and then assembled.
 They are currently most widely used to treat
surface water.
 supplies for removal of turbidity, color, and
microbes with filtration processes. However,
most treatment technologies are adaptable
to package plant design and configuration.
 The difference between package plants and
custom designed plants is that package
plants arrive on site virtually ready to
operate.

RAW WATER FLOCCULATOR

CHLORINE
CYCLONE MIXER

PLATE UPFLOW SAND TANK
SETTLER FILTER
UNITS OF W.T.P
 Alum solution container with dosing
arrangement
 Flash mixer
 Tapered flocculator
 Plate settler unit
 Upflow sand filter and
 Chlorine solution dosing unit
TAPERED FLOCCULATOR
 It allows inlet water to attain maximum velocity
gradient which reduces in the direction of flow
resulting in tapered velocity gradient.
 It helps for forming large and dense flocs.
 Flocculation is done with help of a static flocculator
 The strips are fixed in the perpendicular direction of
the plane of the trapezoidal vertical plane (or side) of
the flocculator.
 Each end of the strip is 50mm in horizontal direction,
the middle 45 degrees slanting portion of the strip is
35.35mm.The horizontal and vertical spacing of the
strip is 25 mm.
 The arrangement of strips as shown in fig.
PLATE SETTLER UNIT

 It is a high rate sedimentation tank.

 The high rate sedimentation tank is achieved
using corrugated GI sheets.
 The width of sheet is 1.5m,length 0.6m,and
inclination of sheet is 45 degree.
 The detention time provided in the unit is
about 30 minutes and spacing of the sheet is
5 cm.
 The corrugation helps fore concentration of
down sliding sludge settled on the plates
while water flows in the upward direction.
UPFLOW SAND FILTER
 The filter work on the principal of rapid sand
filtration.
 The top surface of filter is larger than the bottom-
surface area and water inlet from filter bottom
results in upflow.
 The cross-sectional area increases along the direction
flow.
 The upward flow of water is from coarse to fine
media.
 The advantage of this filter is from course to fine
media.
 The velocity of flow decreases in the direction of
flow because of trapezoidal shape of the filter.
CHLORINATION
 The filtered water is stored in a sump
located at ground level and is disinfected
with the help of required dose of chlorine
solution.
 The arrangement of dosing chlorine solution
is similar to that for alum solution.
 The chlorine solution is added to water at
the clear water reservoir where minimum
contact time is 30 minutes.
 The disinfected water is pumped to the
required place.
ADVANTAGES OF PACKAGE
W.T.P
 It treats surface water.
 It has the facility of tapered flocculation, high
rate sedimentation, declined velocity upflow
filtration and chlorination.
 It involves no moving parts or mechanical
equipment.
 It requires no electrical energy except for
pumps.
 It requires no skilled labour for operation and
maintenance since no major problems or repairs
are anticipated.
ADVANTAGES OF PACKAGE
W.T.P
 The capital cost of construction is low as
compared to that of conventional plants.
 Operation and maintenance costs are also
low.
 Space requirement for the plant is quite
small.
 It can be fabricated in a workshop and
can be easily transported by means of a
truck to the site.
